Fundraising Goal
The Still Strong Foundation Needs You!
The Still Strong Foundation sets an annual fundraising goal that allows us to positively impact the lives of families whose children are fighting pediatric cancer.
The Foundation’s mission is simple yet powerful: Help parents spend less time worrying about non-medical bills, like mortgages and utilities, and more time supporting their child to a victorious fight against cancer.
But we can’t do it alone….and need your help.
The Foundation currently supports families with a maximum amount of $3,000 through the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children (Philadelphia, PA), Geisinger Medical Center (Danville, PA), Penn State Health Children’s Hospital (Hershey, PA), Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children (Wilmington, DE), and the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian (New York, NY).
The Foundation has helped several patients’ families in need, including:
- Giovanni, a 1 year old boy with retinoblastoma, is treated at Penn State Children’s Hospital. His mom wrote “I am a single mom of 3 toddlers and am on thin ice with work due to the in and out during chemo…We recently got news that the cancer is back…I am so worried about my son and rent is already late and I have a late fee…”
SSF paid $1,000 for rent.
- Piper, a 5 year old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, is treated at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Her dad wrote, “I’m self-employed and my income is directly tied to my workable hours. These phases have been time intensive with care, trips to the hospital and Piper’s quality of home life….Programs like this give us the peace of mind where we can focus more on the care of our child and less on working to live.”
SSF paid $1,000 for mortgage and utilities.
- Kemar, a 6 year old boy with neuroblastoma, is treated at Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children. His social worker wrote “Mom was working full-time, however, she is now only able to work 2 days a week in order to care for Kemar who has ad several relapsed. The decrease in pay and the added cost of having a child in the hospital for the 3rd time, has caused significant financial instability for this family. Kemar’s mother is extremely gracious and was hesitant to ask for help. Any financial assistance…would take a lot of worry off Mom so she can focus on caring for Kemar during this difficult time.”
SSF paid $1,000 for 3 different utility bills.
In addition to non-medical bills, the Foundation strives to bring joy to patients and families whose hospital stays can span weeks or even months. Your financial and/or in-kind support allows us to host spa days, serve holiday meals and share special gifts…. bringing a much-needed smile to a concerned parent or exhausted child undergoing extensive treatments.
All donations are tax deductible and no gift is too small. Please consider giving today!
